The Global Fund is seeking applications for the position of Executive Director. Advertisements have been placed by the executive search firm Russell Reynolds Associates, which has been hired to work with the Global Fund Board’s Ad-Hoc Nominating Committee.

The deadline for submitting an application is 6 August 2012.

A copy of the text being used for the advertisements can be found on the Global Fund websiteĀ here.

The text of the advertisement is also available on the website of Russell Reynolds AssociatesĀ here. There is a link on this site to a “Position Specification” document. This 12-page document provides some background information on the Global Fund, explains the role and the duties of the ED, and describes the “candidate profile” (basically, a statement of qualifications). The Position Specification document also contains information on where applications should be submitted and where requests for more information can be sent.

On the Global Fund websiteĀ here, there is a link to the Terms of Reference (ToR) for the ED position, which were recently approved by the Board. Most of what is in the ToR for the ED position is contained in the Position Specification document.

Earlier, the Global Fund added three people to the Ad-Hoc Nominating Committee. There are nine positions on the committee, six from Global Fund Board delegations and three from outside the Fund. GFO reported the names of the six Board members inĀ Issue 184. Following consultations and extensive internal discussions, the Global Fund appointed Dr George Alleyne (Barbados), Dr Ursula Eid (Germany) and Dr Milly Katana (Uganda) to fill the three external positions on the committee.

The committee has selected Masaki Noke as Chair and Karlo Boras as Vice-Chair. Both are members of Global Fund Board delegations.

As previously reported, the Global Fund has said that the selection process will produce a short list of up to four persons which will contain at least as many women as men. It is from this short list that the next ED will be selected. The Global Fund plans to make its selection by the time of the Board meeting scheduled for 13-14 November 2012.
