According to a survey conducted by the Global Fund, 40 country coordinating mechanisms (CCMs) now have their own websites. In addition, three regional coordinating mechanisms (RCMs) and seven regional organisations (ROs) have their own sites.

An undated report on the survey was released recently by the Global Fund and is availableĀ here. The report contains a list of the sites. It also contains examples of the types of information available on the sites. The survey identified another 12 websites which were not hosted by CCMs, but which nevertheless contained information on CCMs.

The survey found that the content of the websites varied considerably, with some sites providing limited information of questionable value, while others actively supported constituency engagement in key areas of CCM responsibilities, from proposal development to selection of principal recipients and oversight of grants. On occasion, the report said, websites were used to stimulate community feedback and dialogue by soliciting comments and providing contact email addresses for that purpose. “Some websites went further and had open discussion boards and held polls, proposing questions for the public to answer online,” the report added.

The report contains a list of the features that the Global Fund believes CCMs should consider including on their websites.

In June 2011, GFO published anĀ articleĀ listing 20 CCM websites of which Aidspan was then aware. That article also included a list of “recommended” features.
