The Chairman of the Board of Aidspan wishes all GFO readers and supporters a Happy New Year in this first issue of the Global Fund Observer 2025.

Dear readers,

 

As we begin 2025, it is with deep gratitude and renewed enthusiasm that we take up our pen to send you our most sincere wishes on behalf of the entire Aidspan team. We wish you a year full of health, prosperity and success, both personal and collective. May this year be marked by moments of joy, learning and solidarity shared with your loved ones and your communities.

 

Since its inception, Aidspan has been committed to supporting the effectiveness, transparency and accountability of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, as well as other global health initiatives (GHIs). In 2024, true to its mission, our organization continued to play its role as an independent observer and strategic partner in building stakeholder capacity. Today, as we enter a new year, we are more determined than ever to continue this commitment.

 

Over the past year, Aidspan has made significant progress in implementing its 2023-2028 strategy, which is based on four fundamental pillars:

 

• Independent observation and analysis of Global Fund actions;
• Promoting transparency, efficiency and accountability;
• Communicating to influence and catalyze change;
• Strengthen strategic partnerships to maximize collective impact.

 

These pillars guide us in our expanded role, which includes not only monitoring the Global Fund, but also increasing support for all global initiatives aimed at improving health for all. This expansion has taken the form of local capacity-building initiatives, the publication of detailed analyses and strategic dialogues to ensure that resources and efforts reach the populations who need them most.

 

In 2025, our priority is clear: to raise the voices of stakeholders, particularly those in the Global South, in a rapidly changing global context. The year will be crucial with the eighth replenishment of the Global Fund, a decisive step in ensuring continued progress against these deadly pandemics. Aidspan will play an active role in promoting strong, evidence-based advocacy to mobilize sustainable and equitable funding.

 

This year, we will also be strengthening our commitment to informing strategic decisions and discussions. We will continue to publish independent analyses, decipher global public health trends and share inspiring stories. Our pages will remain a space of exchange and inspiration for change-makers: activists, decision-makers, donors, communities and survivors.

 

We know that the challenges of 2025 will be many. However, they are not insurmountable. With your support and commitment, we will continue to make a significant impact to strengthen global health and promote equity in access to healthcare.

 

We invite you to join us in this collective effort. Together, we can make 2025 a year of remarkable progress for global health and the well-being of millions of people.
