ABSTRACT The Global Fund Observer’s Acting Editor moves on.
Dear GFO readers,
Almost two years ago, I stepped into the role of Acting Editor of the Global Fund Observer when former Editor David Garmaise first took time off to manage his illness (sadly, he recently passed away).
Now the time has come for me to move into other areas of journalistic interest, although I will keep close ties to the global health field, and will continue to write for the GFO.
The GFO and Aidspan perform a vital function in exploring, investigating, and shedding light on the complexities and changes in Global Fund financing, grant approvals, policy and practice. During my time here, the GFO has increasingly aimed to give voice to the issues and concerns affecting, and expressed by, everyone and anyone in the Global Fund partnership, including implementers. This expression exemplifies the Global Fund principles of country ownership and transparency, and is an indispensable contribution to the effectiveness of the Fund, which remains an extraordinary gift to humankind.
I am immensely grateful to have been able to make my own contribution to Aidspan and the GFO, in the service of the Global Fund, my alma mater. I am also immensely grateful for the talents, passion, and patience of Ida Hakizinka and my Aidspan colleagues during my time with them. I wish them, and you, continued success in your championship of the Global Fund.
Please send any ideas for news items, commentaries or any other feedback for the Global Fund Observer to Aidspan’s Senior Policy Analyst Djesika Amendah at djesika.amendah@aidspan.org, and for issues relating to francophone countries, to Observateur du Fonds Mondial Editor Christelle Boulanger (christelle.boulanger@aidspan.org).
