ABSTRACT As a result of the decisions taken at the Board meeting on 21-22 November 2011, the Global Fund now expects to be able to sign all remaining Round 10 grant agreements by March 2012.
The Global Fund Secretariat has informedĀ GFOĀ that as a result of the decisions taken at the Board meeting on 21-22 November 2011, the Global Fund expects to be able to sign all remaining Round 10 grant agreements. The Secretariat said that all agreements should be signed by March 2012.
The normal deadline for signing Round 10 grants is 15 December 2011, one year after approval of the proposals from which they emanated. However, the Secretariat has the authority to grant extensions of up to three months.
AsĀ reportedĀ previously inĀ GFO, according to the Report of the Executive Director presented to the Global Fund Board in advance of its November meeting, by early November 36 of 113 Round 10 grants had been signed or were about to be. The report predicted that all but two of the remaining grants would be signed by the 15 December deadline. However,Ā GFOĀ understands that the signing of Round 10 grant agreements stopped about a week before the November Board meeting because of concerns about how much money would be available. At that meeting, the Board implemented several measures that will generate savings from future grant renewals (seeĀ GFOĀ article), as a result of which, Round 10 signing has resumed.
