Cameroon Audit Documents Financial Control Weaknesses in Governmental PRs

There are (or were) a number of significant deficiencies in the financial management control framework of Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) principal recipients (PRs) and sub-recipients (SRs). This is the main conclusion of an audit conducted by the Global Fund's Office of the Inspector General (OIG) in 2009 on six Global Fund grants in Cameroon.


Global Fund Provides Updates on Grant Consolidation and Other Areas

In the first eight months of 2010, 13 countries went through a grant consolidation process, a feature of the Global Fund's new grant architecture. In the process, 38 grants were consolidated into 19, and single-stream-of-funding agreements were signed for these 19 grants. The Global Fund estimates that this will result, on average, in a reduction of 50% in transaction costs for implementers.


Global Fund Releases Detailed Operational Guide

The Global Fund has issued a new Operational Guide targeted primary at implementers of Global Fund grants. Entitled "Operational Guide: The Key to Global Fund Policies and Processes," the 118-page document is available (in English) at www.theglobalfund.org/en/policies. "Stories of Innovation and Impact - The Global Fund 2010," a 28-page document, has 12 stories in all, from Ethiopia, Georgia, Jordan, Lesotho, Namibia, Nigeria, Peru, South Africa, Swaziland, Tajikistan, Thailand and Zambia.
