The Technical Review Panel (TRP’s) has just completed its assessment of the funding requests submitted within the first window in March. It is sending notifications to the Secretariat’s country teams and the Country Coordinating Mechanisms (CCMs). Due to the disruptions caused by COVID-19, the TRP worked remotely to assess funding requests.

New report finds improvements in Malawi’s Global Fund program for key and vulnerable populations, credits community engagement
A new report from the International Council of AIDS Service Organizations (ICASO) finds that Malawi’s Global Fund program improved in a number of ways during the 2017-2019 funding cycle. The total funding requested for key and vulnerable populations rose dramatically, and service packages for these groups were defined in greater detail.

Cameroon’s 2017 TB/HIV funding request included a strong focus on communities and key populations. This was a key theme that emerged from the comments from the Technical Review Panel (TRP) and the Grant Approvals Committee (GAC) when they reviewed the request.
The Global Fund Board recently approved a grant to civil society principal recipient (PR), Fundacion Centro de Informacion y Recursons para el Desarollo (CIRD), in Paraguay. The planned implementation period for the grant is 1 March 2018 to 28 February 2021.

Global Fund grants to Thailand aim to strengthen services for key populations and support a successful transition
On 1 December 2017, acting on the recommendation of the Global Fund’s Grant Approvals Committee (GAC), the Board approved two grants emanating from Thailand’s 2017 Window 2 TB/HIV funding request. The Ministry of Health’s Department of Disease Control will serve as principal recipient (PR) for one grant, totaling $18.0 million.
Global Fund grant will expand HIV prevention, care and treatment services for key populations in Guyana
Among the batch of grants recently approved by the Board was an HIV grant to Guyana. The proposed timeframe for the grant was 1 January 2018 to 31 December 2020. The principal recipient (PR) is the Ministry of Health, which also managed Guyana’s previous HIV grant.
