Overview on the GF’s 2017 Eligibility List and Transition Projection Tool

Following the Global Fund’s recent replenishment in September, the country eligibility list for the 2017-2019 grant cycle has been published. This list identifies the countries and disease components that are eligible to receive funding from the Global Fund for the next three years.

Additional information on the decision not to approve extensions for HIV and TB grants to Bosnia and Hercegovina

Secretariat is reviewing the impact on nine components that are no longer eligible for funding

In GFO #293, we reported that the Global Fund Board turned down a recommendation to provide additional funding for a TB grant and an HIV grant in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Although to still do now know why the Board decided not to grant the additional funding, we now have additional information on what was being requested and why. As well, we are able to report on the reaction of the principal recipient (PR), UNDP.

En vertu de la nouvelle politique d'admissibilité adoptée par le Conseil lors de sa réunion à Abidjan les 26-27 avril, la moyenne de trois années de RNB par habitant sera utilisée pour déterminer le classement de niveau de revenu aux fins d'admissibilité (en remplacement des chiffres d’une année par habitant qui avaient été utilisés jusqu'à présent).

On 26-27 April 2016, the Global Fund Board held its 35th meeting in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. GFO was present, with observer status.

Revised eligibility policy adopted

Three-year GNI per capita average to be used to determine income level

Under the new Eligibility Policy adopted by the Board at its meeting in Abidjan on 26-27 April, a three-year GNI per capita average will be used to determine income level classification for eligibility purposes (replacing the single year per capita numbers that have been used up to now).
