OIG Releases Report on Audit of Global Fund Grants in Ukraine

Audit reveals positive outcomes and good practices, but also some weaknesses in administration and financial management

In a report on its audit of Global Fund grants in Ukraine, the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) said that the grants had produced positive outcomes and that a number of good practices and achievements had been observed.

Ineligible and unsupported expenditures of $4 million identified in one audit; country has agreed to pay back at least $3.3 million

In the first week of August, the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) released seven new reports covering audits conducted in Burundi, Malawi and Ukraine; and diagnostic reviews undertaken in Eritrea, Gambia, Georgia and Peru.

Board Approves Two New Round 9Proposals Following Successful Appeals; NSA Appeals Denied

The Global Fund Board has approved two of the nine Round 9 proposals whose original rejection had been appealed by the applicants. The newly approved proposals are an HIV proposal from Pakistan that will cost $11.9 million and a TB proposal from Ukraine that will cost $34.6 million (costs are for the first two years). The approvals are subject to a number of requests for clarification being successfully responded to in a timely manner.
