This is the second of two articles in this issue on the grants recently approved by the Global Fund Board. In this article, we report on the comments of the Grant Approvals Committee (GAC) on four countries in the Latin American and Caribbean region: Belize, El Salvador, Panama and Paraguay.

Global Fund Board approves another $98 million in country grants from the 2017–2019 allocations

On 12 November 2018,  through electronic voting, the Global Fund Board approved $98.0 million in funding for 14 country grants from 13 countries. Of the 14 grants, four were for TB; three TB/HIV; three HIV; three malaria; and one TB/RSSH.

OIG investigation reveals deficiencies in Global Fund processes for procurement of HIV rapid test kits in eight countries

A proactive investigation undertaken by the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) has identified some deficiencies in the Global Fund’s processes for procuring HIV rapid diagnostic test (RDT) kits. A report on the investigation was released on 31 May 2018.

The Global Fund Board recently approved a grant to civil society principal recipient (PR), Fundacion Centro de Informacion y Recursons para el Desarollo (CIRD), in Paraguay. The planned implementation period for the grant is 1 March 2018 to 28 February 2021.
