On 17 August 2018 and on 26 October 2018, the Global Fund Board approved two HIV grants and three TB grants worth $28.1 million. The Board also approved $15.9 million in matching funds requests for six components.

Global Fund releases new guidelines on budgeting for grants

The Secretariat has released revised guidelines for budgeting related to Global Fund grants. Guidelines for Grant Budgeting is dated June 2017 and contains 79 pages. The guidelines amend and restate the previous Global Fund Guidelines for Grant Budgeting and Annual Financial Reporting issued in August 2014.

Salary incentives still paid by the Global Fund, despite efforts to remove them

The organisation is working on gradually phasing out the payments, but is encountering resistance in some low-income countries

The payment of extra money to top up the salaries of workers implementing Global Fund grants was disallowed by the Fund two years ago, except in exceptional circumstances, but in some countries the organization is finding it hard to work out a way to keep the staff they need without paying these incentives.
