Board approves final targets for the 2017-2022 KPI Framework

Almost all of the targets for the 2017-2022 Strategic Key Performance Indicator Framework have now been approved, locking in place the full set of targets that the Global Fund will measure its work against for the next few years.

The Global Fund, one of the main purchasers of generic antiretroviral (ARV) medicines for HIV patients in low- and middle-income countries, has dismissed concerns that the limited number of manufacturers tapped to supply these drugs could result in immediate or future shortages. Fund officials said systems are in place to forecast demand, deal with any supply disruptions and increase production to meet future need.

Wambo.org: The new online marketplace

At the end of May 2016, the Global Fund formally announced wambo.org, a new online marketplace where implementers of Global Fund grants will be able to check prices and place orders for directly for medicines, other health products and non-health commodities. There are plans to expand the reach of wambo.org even further.

E-marketplace (Phase 1) to be launched this quarter

The phased launch and roll-out of the Global Fund’s e-marketplace is scheduled to begin this quarter. The e-marketplace is an online procurement platform where buyers will be able to view and procure a broad range of products to be used in health programs. The e-marketplace will operate within the framework of the Fund’s pooled procurement mechanism.
