The Global Fund–Heineken partnership continues to reverberate, and Global Fund Executive Director Peter Sands has been caught up in its vortex.
As more reaction to the Global Fund’s partnership with Heineken flowed in, a member of the Global Fund Board has said publicly that he is opposed to the partnership.
“The Global Fund provides strong leadership for the response to HIV and AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria…. The Fund fully meets the requirements of an effective multilateral organization. It is fit for purpose and able to adapt to future needs.”
In preparation for the 36th Global Fund Board meeting that took place on 16 to 17 November 2016, the Africa constituencies Bureau convened from 31 October to 1 November 2016 in Kigali, Rwanda to look at critical issues brought to the attention of the board.
Stakeholders from around the world are being encouraged to add their voices, lessons learned and challenges to a global consultation carried out virtually by the Stop TB Partnership to inform the development of its strategic plan for 2016-2020.
